Personal Qualities, Work Habits And Attitudes
RESPONSIBILITY
In college, I want to major in business administration or business management; I have put effort towards that goal by doing an internship. This summer and last summer sums up around 4-500 hours of my internship at a real estate company. I have not missed a single period this year, and I have been on time for every class. I believe that educational enlightenment is super essential and beneficial to my personal acknowledgment. I have also taken college classes, joined clubs, and had other opportunities to help reach my goal. Showing enthusiasm and optimism in and outside of class are my vital attributes; every day, I come to school with a positive attitude because I believe that spreading positivity and happiness is critical no matter where you are.
SOCIABILITY
I am a very going out and social person in and outside of school. My extroverted personality has brought me many friends as well as an opportunity to meet many new people. My outgoingness has helped me get closer with my peers and my facilitators, and other campus authorities. I feel like I can joke around with my peers at school without anyone saying anything or judging. Reaching out to teachers or counselors also isn’t much of a challenge for me because I feel connected and safe at this school. When I need help with college work I could reach out to Amanda or Celeste and I would feel comfortable doing so, I think this is due to how small our school is and how everyone is so nice and free here.
SELF-MANAGEMENT
This year I have a few goals I am going to work on. The first would be to maintain my grade and end this school year with at least a 3.9 GPA. Secondly, I would take more college classes, my goal is 2-3 more, including the one I am currently taking. Lastly, it would be to stay organized and turn in all my work on time. Unlike my peers, I don’t procrastinate and I like to get things done fast. If any of my facilitators were to be asked they will agree that I always ask when assignments are due and how I can do better on them. Usually, I get my assignments completed on time and even days before the due date.
New Basics
WRITING
Writing hasn’t always been my best quality, but I have improved a lot throughout the years. I used to be super bad at writing and would struggle writing long essays. Slowly I start to learn more about how to write good essays and use figurative language and good grammar. Now I can write in a grammatical form, use good details, and express my words clearly and eloquently. A good example would be my common app essay. I showed
HISTORICAL, SOCIAL, AND GLOBAL AWARENESS
History has always been a vital subject for me. All my years, I have only gotten one b in that class, which I am very proud of. I have always been interested in history and learning more about U.S history and the history of other countries. I have understood more and more of American society, political systems, and economic function throughout all the years. I have learned more about some specific history of the United States that I did not acknowledge before.
Thinking and Reasoning Skills
CREATIVE THINKING
Many people will say that I am a fast thinker and that I am very creative. I am a very goal-driven person and I will do whatever it takes to reach my goals. My mindset and attitude are something that I think I am superior to others at. A lot of times I generate ideas or plans that others don’t of and I think that’s my creative side. I often come up with new ideas for side hustles and know how to set myself up for success in the future.
DECISION-MAKING
Decision-making is super important, especially at my age. I am about to go to college, and I can’t make any wrong choices. Everything I do needs to be considered before making choices from this point on. In college, decision-making is vital because it will result in life-changing results. I plan to start a business after college, and making the right decisions is very important because it could put my business at risk or even result in legal matters.
Interpersonal Abilities
SERVES CLIENTS, CUSTOMERS, AND COLLEAGUES
Working at Panda Express has really changed and developed me into who I am over the past year. Panda was my first real job, and I had no idea how hard it would be. During my first week, I had already wanted to quit because of how intense and fast paste it was. I got a chance to talk with the assistant manager, and he said that he also wanted to quit on his first week. This is because of the workload Panda gives and how fast the work environment was; during my first week, I had to cook food and a heavy load of cleaning, including the back of the store like the kitchen, the dishes, and even the kitchen equipment. I think over this year, I have mastered Panda’s values and mission. Panda’s mission is “to deliver exceptional Asian dining experiences by building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives.” Over this year, I have helped do so by treating every customer how I would want to be treated and with fairness. I always come to work with a positive and ready-to-work mindset, so I am so goal-driven and money-motivated. I have also learned from a few of Panda’s values: proactive, growth, and respect. I am also ready to work and on my feet, whether it is schoolwork or work outside of school, and I think I’ve had tremendous growth compared to freshman year. I also respect all customers no matter who it is, and I’ve also practiced this outside of work and in and outside of school.
EXERCISES LEADERSHIP
Over the course of my years at this school, I have shown leadership inside and outside of school. I have shown leadership by leading one of our school's most significant events of the year, the Hannah Camp. The purpose of Hannah Camp is for younger kids to get involved in group activities to meet and get to know one another. As the leader of this year's camp, I will be in charge of buying food, gear and looking for a campsite. I will also need to make sure we have everything we need and ensure everyone has a tent to stay in so everyone could be included. Another way I have performed my leadership was being an assistant coach for the school track team. Not only helped kids better their physical skills but was there to be a role model for them as well.
Technology
SHOWS AWARENESS OF TECHNOLOGY
I’ve never been a huge technology person because it never has interested me much but, over the past couple of years, I have started to get more and more into it. Technology is a big part of our lives no matter what and when it will always be something that is needed. Over the course of this year, I have invested in many technology stocks and have tried to learn more about technology. Ever since high school, I have used more technology every day instead of paper so I am always learning more and more about it.
APPLIES TECHNOLOGY TO TASK
Over the years I have learned a lot about technology, not just about what it does but how to use it. No matter if it’s a computer or phone I have expanded my knowledge quite a lot. Throughout the years I have used computers more and more to do homework and projects especially now in high school. In order to do good in school, technology is a big part of your learning so I have taught myself how to use technology for everyday use and learn about ways to use it such as simple things on google docs or google sheets that I never knew before.
Conclusion
After seven years at ACLC I am honestly sad to leave for a few reasons. For one I have been here for so long and honestly this has been apart of my home almost after seven years of being here for almost 8 hours a day. Secondly I would say I am not quite ready to be an adult yet and be all on my own. It's not that I can't be independent but with covid and everything going on for the past two years I feel like I lost a lot of my high school life and experience.
There are so many things I have learned while being at ACLC, it has been an amazing learning and life experience here. Although I am sort of excited for college but also nervous for the finals the homework and everything else especially having to live on your own and having to be an adult right after this year.
